On 18 September 2018 took place the 15th meeting of the German-Ukrainian agricultural committee, that is yearly held in order to evaluate the efficiency of bilateral cooperation (in particular - implementation of common projects of bilateral cooperation), as well as to discuss new promising directions for further cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The Ukrainian side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for European Integration Olga Trofimtseva, and the German side – by the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany Michael Stuebgen.

«I am grateful to our German colleagues for the active cooperation in the bilateral agricultural trade. We can notice the positive dynamics of the trade with agricultural products, that increased by $ 223,9 Mio and amounted $ 846,9 Mio in 2017» - pointed out the Deputy Minister. Moreover, Ms. Trofimtseva drew attention to the effective cooperation between two countries within the framework of bilateral cooperation projects, that help to create a strong basis for development of external trade of Ukrainian agricultural sector.

Mr. Michael Stuebgen, from his side, pointed out that the Government of Germany sees Ukraine as a strong agricultural country with huge possibilities on the global market and added that 5 projects, (1/5 of the general budget is directed for the implementation of the bilateral international projects) are being implemented by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany.

«In prospect we consider further directions of close cooperation, in particular cooperations in forestry, veterinary and training of highly skilled specialists for work with the latest agrotechnologies» - summarized Olga Trofimtseva.

German-Ukrainian projects in the agricultural sector:
- German-Ukrainian agropolitical dialogue (APD)
- Agritrade Ukraine (Advising Ukraine on Agricultural Trade Issues -within the Framework of the EU-Ukraine Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement)
- German-Ukrainian Cooperation in the Field of Organic Agriculture
- Agricultural Demonstration and Training Center (ADFZ)


Results of the bilateral Ukrainian-German agricultural trade in 2017:

The export of Ukrainian agricultural production increased by $157 Mio (by 64,3%) and amounted almost $402 Mio.
The import of German products to Ukraine increased by $ 66,6 Mio (by 17,6%), compared to the year 2016, and amounted $ 444,9 Mio.
